A Siren’s Call

By Laura Marciniak

You left me there when you first saw me.
Derelict in your mind.
floating for a while.
I drifted there, until I became that whisper in your ear.

With each tide that came,
Your thoughts: deposited.

I was amongst them: Embedded, calling out for you to find me.

With each of your thoughts: I emerged,
In bits
In pieces.

I hear you call upon me.
I hear the echoes of your desires reflected in the dark waters.
Cascading in the wavering ripples.

I am a reflection of you,
You can’t catch.

I was just a daydream.
A leftover of one of your thoughts.

With each tide that came,
Your thoughts: deposited.
Re-emerging
